All four sciences

Science — PCMB

Six subjects and, in practice, two entrance syllabi at once. Schools sell it as flexibility. It is really an endurance choice.

Very heavyBoth doors open

Does it suit you?

Take it if

You are genuinely strong across all four, you have real academic support, and you have a specific reason — like wanting biotech or bioengineering, which use both.

Don't take it if

You're postponing the decision. The cost of postponing is paid in Class 12, when you're half-prepared for two exams instead of ready for one.

What it keeps open

12 of the 12 exams in this catalogue, across these fields. Computed from the eligibility rules on the exam pages — nothing here is authored.

What the two years are actually like

After Class 12
As PCM or PCB, depending on which entrance you end up sitting
What the work looks like
Whichever of the two paths you commit to. The fourth subject rarely appears again after Class 12 unless you go into a field that genuinely uses both.

The part nobody says
Carrying both syllabi properly is the exception, not the rule. Most students who take PCMB end up choosing one anyway — the question is whether they choose it in Class 11 or discover it in Class 12.

The description of this stream is judgement and cites nothing. The counts, the fields and the closures are queries over the exam catalogue, and they change on their own when an exam is added.
